A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Mr. E. Lamar Anderson; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Mr. E. Lamar Anderson on March 8, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson was born in Kite, Georgia, and served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Air Force, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans during World War II as a fighter pilot in the Pacific arena; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson was the founder and owner of Auto Parts and Supply Company for 55 years and was on the board of directors with Citizens Bank of Swainsboro; and

WHEREAS, a community leader, Mr. Anderson was a charter member of the Swainsboro Rotary Club, where he served as president and was a Paul Harris Scholar; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson served the City of Swainsboro City Council for 12 years and was a long-time member of the Swainsboro-Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce, serving a year as president and was honored as Man of the Year in 2005; and

WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Anderson was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, as chairman of the administrative board, and was a member of the finance committee and the board of trustees; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson was united in love and marriage to the late Sybil Moxley and was blessed with the support of his children, Patricia and Gene Ragsdale; and

WHEREAS, he was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Scott Ragsdale, Lori Bonds, and the late Lisa Ragsdale Alford, and five great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Anderson will long be remembered for his love of family and friendship, and this loyal brother, father, grandfather, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. E. Lamar Anderson and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. E. Lamar Anderson.
