A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Major General George T. Lynn; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, our nation's security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put their personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm's way to protect the freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and

WHEREAS, Major General George T. Lynn has long been recognized by the citizens of this nation for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of the United States; and

WHEREAS, General Lynn earned a bachelor's degree in business from Murray State University and received training as a Navigator and Electronic Warfare Officer; and

WHEREAS, General Lynn currently serves as the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander of Air Education Training Command and is responsible for advising the commander and staff on all issues impacting the National Guard; and

WHEREAS, his extraordinary service and commitment has been recognized with accolades from the Air Force such as an Overseas Ribbon Short Tour, a Longevity Service Ribbon with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster and one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, a Training Ribbon, a Commendation Medal, an Achievement Medal, and an Outstanding Unit Award with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster and three Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has honored General Lynn with a Distinctive Service Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal, Commendation Medal with one device, a Humanitarian Service Ribbon, a Service Medal with one device, and an Active Duty Ribbon; and

WHEREAS, among the many other decorations General Lynn has received, he has earned a Legion of Merit award, a Meritorious Service Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, and an Air Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster; and

WHEREAS, General Lynn embodies the spirit of service, willing to find meaning in something greater than himself and serving as a guardian of this nation's freedom, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished American be recognized appropriately.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Major General George T. Lynn for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of his country and extend to him their most profound appreciation for him and all members of the United States military who stand ever ready to lay the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Major General George T. Lynn.
