A RESOLUTION


Recognizing Julia Maria Denniss on her third consecutive Georgia State Spelling Bee Championship; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Julia Maria Denniss is an eighth grade student at Marist who has demonstrated leadership, a strong work ethic, discipline, commitment, and devotion which has resulted in her consistent success in the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) State Spelling Bee; and

WHEREAS, the GAE State Spelling Bee is an important event that offers students an opportunity to grow academically and socially by challenging students and helping build character, honor, and integrity; and

WHEREAS, participating in the GAE State Spelling Bee encourages students to develop a strong work ethic, discipline, and commitment, and teaches students valuable lessons about the spirit of competition and the reward of hard work; and

WHEREAS, GAE sponsors and supports the GAE State Spelling Bee because it is a program that involves students, teachers, parents, administrators, and the community, and GAE has sent a representative to every Scripps National Spelling Bee since 1971; and

WHEREAS, Julia won the 2011 GAE State Spelling Bee, earning her third consecutive title as State Champion; and

WHEREAS, as the State Champion, Julia will represent the State of Georgia at the 2011 Scripps National Spelling Bee held in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, GAE and the State of Georgia take great pride in the accomplishments of this fine young scholar.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in recognizing Julia Maria Denniss, winner of the State Spelling Bee, and extend to her their sincere best wishes at the National Spelling Bee and in all her future academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Julia Maria Denniss.
