RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Miss Micenna Brooks; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Miss Micenna Brooks is a first grade student at McCall Primary School in
Acworth, Georgia, who has made it her personal mission to let veterans know they
are remembered and greatly appreciated; and
WHEREAS,
Miss Brooks, a seven year old on a quest, has founded Micenna's Mission, which
creates and hands out thousands of poems, cards, letters, and pictures to
veterans at the Atlanta VA Medical Center and nursing home in Decatur;
and
WHEREAS,
with the help of friends, family, and neighbors, Miss Brooks helps brighten and
uplift veterans with her simple act of kindness and display of appreciation;
and
WHEREAS,
Miss Brooks is the beloved daughter of her proud parents, Kenneth and Ronita
Brooks, and she attends Awtrey-Westwood Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS,
Miss Brooks, along with her good friend, Kalee Rouse, work hard to construct and
decorate collection boxes to be placed around the city so that others can show
their gratitude to the many men and women who have put their own safety on the
line to protect this country; and
WHEREAS,
Miss Brooks's benevolent deeds were inspired by her father, who is retired after
23 years with the Army National Guard; and
WHEREAS,
Miss Brooks brings great pride to her community and the State of Georgia and the
selfless actions of this young Georgian are worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Miss Micenna Brooks for her incredible spirit and generosity
and extend their most sincere gratitude for her work honoring the sacrifices
made by United States veterans.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Miss Micenna
Brooks.
