RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Lou Walker Senior Center Choir; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Lou Walker Senior Center Choir was established in 2006 with eight dedicated
members under the guiding leadership of Ms. Evelyn Craig; and
WHEREAS,
today, the choir has grown to an impressive 125 members and is led by its
director, Ms. Gloria Stegar, and choir musician, Ms. Helen S. Smith;
and
WHEREAS,
members of the Lou Walker Senior Center Choir are some of the most talented
singers in the area aged 55 and older, and many of the group's soloists are also
soloists in the choirs of some of the major churches in metro Atlanta;
and
WHEREAS,
in addition to concerts and programs at the Lou Walker Senior Center, the choir
has performed at the annual DeKalb TRIAD Scam Jam, for the DeKalb Board of
Commissioners, at Commissioner Larry Johnson's Christmas Tree Lighting, at the
Georgia Capitol, at South DeKalb Mall during the holiday season, and at New
Bethel AME Church for the Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration; and
WHEREAS,
this amazing group of musicians uplifts the hearts and spirits of their
audiences, and their dedication and commitment are worthy of
recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Lou Walker Senior Center Choir for its many beautiful
performances and extend best wishes for a successful and joyful
future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Lou
Walker Senior Center Choir.
