BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 1 of Chapter 7 of Title 31 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to regulation of hospitals and related institutions, so as
to enact "The Hazel D. McCurry Act"; to require nursing homes to provide certain
nursing staffing; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws;
and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
This
Act shall be known and may be cited as "The Hazel D. McCurry Act."
SECTION
2.
Article
1 of Chapter 7 of Title 31 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to regulation of hospitals and related institutions, is amended by adding a new
Code section to read as follows:
"31-7-3.3.
At
a minimum, a licensed nursing home:
(1)
With fewer than ten residents shall have a licensed practical nurse on site at
all times; and
(2)
With more than ten residents shall have a registered professional nurse on site
at all times for every ten
residents."
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
