A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Mrs. E. Janice Massey; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Mrs. E. Janice Massey on January 24, 2010; and

WHEREAS, a native of Evans County, Georgia, Mrs. Massey graduated from Claxton High School and earned a registered nursing degree from the Macon School of Nursing and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Georgia Southern University; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Massey diligently and conscientiously dedicated her time, talents, and energy for 34 years to the Evans County Health Department; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Massey was a member of Hagan United Methodist Church, where she taught children's Sunday school, served as missions coordinator, and was president of United Methodist Women in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Massey was united in love and marriage for 37 wonderful years to her husband, Wayne, and was blessed with the love of her daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Ken Durrence; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Tiffany Massey; and three remarkable grandchildren, Wade, Walt, and Meredith; and

WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to her family and friends was admired by others; and

WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Massey will long be remembered for her love of family and friendship, and this loyal daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mrs. E. Janice Massey and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mrs. E. Janice Massey.
