A RESOLUTION


Honoring and celebrating the 100th birthday of Ms. Lottie Mae Reid Munford; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Lottie Mae Reid Munford was born on April 6, 1912, in Abbeville, Georgia, a beloved daughter of Enoch Reid and Nancy Fuller Reid; and

WHEREAS, she was united in love and marriage to the late Willie B. Munford and although they did not have children of their own, Ms. Munford and her husband raised several children in their community; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Ms. Munford was baptized at Mt. Zuma Baptist Church when she was nine, later moving her membership to Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church where she has been a member for 50 years, is the mother of the church, taught Sunday school, served as choir director and musician, and played piano; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens and she possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and

WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of her life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Ms. Lottie Mae Reid Munford on the occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes on many more years of happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Lottie Mae Reid Munford.
