RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Pastor Tamarkus T. Cook; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Pastor Tamarkus T. Cook was born in Newnan, Georgia, a beloved son of Terry Cook
and Adriane Patrick; and
WHEREAS,
at the age of eight he was blessed with the anointing from God to play the piano
by ear and became the minister of music for the Temple of God Church, Inc.,
which blessed him with the opportunity to serve as an organist, pianist, and
minister of music; and
WHEREAS,
compelled to become a mortician, his passion afforded him the opportunity to
become employed by the Sellers-Smith Funeral Home, Inc.; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate from the Morehouse College, Pastor Cook actively participated in the
NAACP and the Student Government Association and created the Morehouse College
Committee of Bereavement, an organization that arranged and conducted memorial
services for students that passed while matriculating through the college;
and
WHEREAS,
an active member in his community, Pastor Cook served as chair of membership for
the Collegiate 100 Black Men of Atlanta; and
WHEREAS,
Pastor Cook serves as pastor of Saint Smyrna Baptist Church, the largest African
American congregation in Coweta County, since his election in January of 2012;
and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he has made
of his life, he makes this world a better place in which to live;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
distinguished Georgian be appropriately
recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Pastor Tamarkus T. Cook for his unparalleled record of community service and his innumerable good works rendered on behalf of persons in need and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
