RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. Purvis E. Isler, Sr., on the occasion of his 90th birthday; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Purvis E. Isler, Sr., was born on March 9, 1921, in Newport News, Virginia,
to the late Elijah and Esther Isler, and this year he enjoys the rare
distinction of celebrating his 90th birthday; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Isler attended Perth Amboy High School, where he was well-liked, a born
leader, and formed the social club, The Amicis, with several of his black
classmates; and
WHEREAS,
he was united in love and marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jeanette Deay
Eaton, on April 25, 1942, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and during their devoted
union, they were blessed with ten remarkable children; and
WHEREAS,
the devotion, patience, and understanding he has demonstrated have provided the
foundation and framework of success in which his family members have developed
and flourished; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Isler served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the
United States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans
during World War II; and
WHEREAS,
he was a loyal employee of Union Carbide in Niagra Falls for many years, took
several correspondence courses in radio and electronics, and became the first
black man in Niagra Falls to successfully obtain a radio service license in the
1960's; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Isler worked as a broadcast electronics technician for station WBEN and was
employed as a skilled electronics technician/dispatcher for the Niagra Falls
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS,
Mr. Isler possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the
strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges
of life; and
WHEREAS,
a kind and generous gentleman, Mr. Isler brings joy and happiness to his many
friends, neighbors, and family members who have the great pleasure of knowing
him; and
WHEREAS,
by the example Mr. Isler has made of his life, he makes this world a better
place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that he be
appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of his
life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mr. Purvis E. Isler, Sr., for his loving and dedicated service to the members of
his family and the citizens of his community, congratulate him upon the grand
occasion of his 90th birthday, and extend to him best wishes for continued
health and happiness.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Purvis E. Isler, Sr.
