RESOLUTION
Commending
Mrs. Kimberly McGuiness; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Kimberly McGuiness was awarded one of this nation's highest honors for a
citizen, a 2010 Presidential Citizens Medal; and
WHEREAS,
second only to the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Presidential Citizens
Medal was established in 1969 for the purpose of recognizing American citizens
who have performed exemplary deeds for their country and their fellow citizens;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. McGuiness is an assistive technology specialist for Floyd County Schools
and serves as chairwoman of the Georgia School for the Deaf's School Council;
and
WHEREAS,
a mother of a deaf and autistic child, Mrs. McGuiness's hard work and service
helped in the passage of Georgia's Deaf Child's Bill of Rights; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. McGuiness is a zealous advocate for the Georgia School for the Deaf and
works tirelessly to improve the lives of deaf children everywhere;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mrs. Kimberly McGuiness on her devoted service to uplifting the lives of deaf
children in Georgia and congratulate her on her most prestigious honor of a
Presidential Citizens Medal.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Kimberly McGuiness.
