RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Ginger Taylor; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Ginger Taylor was born in Americus, Georgia, the beloved daughter of Ruth
and Robert "Bob" Wooley; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Taylor has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital
role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the
welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she began her career in the field of economic development in 1977, establishing
the Plains Welcome Center, and her sunny smile and high degree of
professionalism were evidence of her commitment toward the betterment of her
community and state; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Taylor's reputation for perception of economic development earned her the
appointment of Tourism Regional Representative, a position in which she
established a broad network of tourism professionals working together on behalf
of the region; and
WHEREAS,
her devotion to the economic development of Georgia became evident, and she was
named Director of the Tourism Regional Representatives, creating a program that
was the envy of every tourism office in the country by providing a forum for
constituents to become shareholders in the state's tourism agenda;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Taylor has worked tirelessly as a legislative liaison, challenging elected
officials to recognize the vital force tourism has upon the economic development
of Georgia and has been instrumental in the increase of funding the area of
tourism has received over the years; and
WHEREAS,
a pioneer in the field of tourism product development, Mrs. Taylor has directed
the country's first program to entice tourism industry development to this
state, and in 2000 she was promoted to Director of Community and Government
Affairs for all divisions of the Georgia Department of Economic Development;
and
WHEREAS,
her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience
and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, her strong sense of loyalty, and her
positive work ethic have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues
and associates; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Taylor was united in love and marriage to Douglas Taylor on November 12,
1965, and she has been blessed with two remarkable sons, Doug and Greg, and her
delightful grandson, Zach, who brings her great pride and joy; and
WHEREAS,
her enthusiasm and the high caliber of service she has dedicated to providing
each Georgia resident and visitor exemplifies the meaning of public service, and
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mrs. Ginger Taylor for her 32 years of efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated public service to economic development and tourism in the State of
Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Ginger Taylor.
