A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Hope House and its Jerry Carrier Benefit Concert; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
located in Augusta, Georgia, the Hope House is a facility for women who are
homeless or suffering from domestic abuse or other traumatic events;
and
WHEREAS,
the Hope House provides promise to residents by providing a safe, nurturing, and
encouraging environment; and
WHEREAS,
the Hope House helps those suffering from the disease of addiction and from
domestic violence get proper treatment so they can re-enter society and move on
with their lives; and
WHEREAS,
due to recent expansions, the Hope House has the capacity to serve 42 women and
their children; and
WHEREAS,
a benefit concert for the children of Hope House will be held on Sunday, May 17,
2009, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Augusta; and
WHEREAS,
beautiful vocals will be performed by choirs from Aldersgate United Methodist
Church, Wesley United Methodist Church, and the Augusta Children's Chorale;
and
WHEREAS,
the featured soloist for this wonderful event will be Allison Jones;
and
WHEREAS,
the event will be a wonderful gathering of incredible musicians and must-see
performances.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the Hope House for its incredible work assisting women of Augusta and extend
best wishes for a successful benefit concert.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Hope House.
