RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Mary Whiting on the occasion of her retirement; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Mary Whiting has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the
vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to
the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Whiting earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Alabama
and a master's degree in middle grades education from Georgia State University;
and
WHEREAS,
a retired school teacher, Ms. Whiting has diligently and conscientiously devoted
innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her
community and state as evidenced dramatically by her superlative service with
the Georgia Senate since 1997; and
WHEREAS,
during her tenure with the Georgia Senate, Ms. Whiting has provided impeccable
support for Senators Butch Miller, Jack Murphy, Lee Hawkins, Casey Cagle, Bill
Hamrick, Faye Smith, Vincent Fort, and Ed Harbison; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Whiting's significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable
patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the
needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration
of her colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
a resident of Alpharetta, Ms. Whiting is the proud mother of Matthew Whiting and
Molly Roberts and enjoys sewing, baking, singing in her church choir, reading,
and spending time with her delightful grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Whiting has served with honor and distinction with the Georgia Senate and
her vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed upon the occasion of
her retirement; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Ms. Mary Whiting for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public
service to the State of Georgia; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her
retirement; and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued
health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Mary Whiting.
