A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Reverend Dr. Sherry Gaither; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Reverend Dr. Sherry Gaither serves in ministry with her husband, Senior Pastor
Benjamin Gaither, at Stronghold Christian Church, located in Lithonia, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
together, the Gaithers provide dynamic vision and leadership to the Stronghold
Christian Church family as they proclaim and establish the Kingdom of God on the
earth; and
WHEREAS,
known as "Dr. G.," Dr. Gaither is a multi-gifted pastor, lecturer, educator,
motivational speaker, and author imbued with a spirit of excellence;
and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Gaither earned a bachelor's degree in communication, a master's degree in
Christian education, and a doctoral degree in ministry, which earned her the
distinction as the first African American woman to graduate with a doctorate
from Luther Rice Seminary; and
WHEREAS,
as the first woman to be licensed and ordained at New Birth Missionary Baptist
Church, Dr. Gaither's passion and love for people spark a desire to see them
saved, healed, and delivered; and
WHEREAS,
before answering the call to full-time ministry, Dr. Gaither held several
positions in marketing and management, traveling extensively across the country;
and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Gaither has served on the staff of Beulah Heights University as a professor
in leadership since 1991, and is the founder of Empowerment Network
International, a multi-media organization that influences both the religious and
the corporate worlds with biblical leadership principles; and
WHEREAS,
her practical, solid strategies have helped thousands transform their lives and
in 2007, Dr. Gaither launched a thought-provoking reality talk show,
Empowering Your
Life; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Gaither's recent publication,
Promoting Leaders -
Who Know How To Serve, was based on her
desire to challenge the current methods used to identify potential leaders and
calls for rewarding leaders based on their ability to serve; and
WHEREAS,
her outstanding work has been recognized with her nomination into the Leadership
DeKalb program, recognition as a Dynamic Woman in Ministry from the Gospel
Heritage Foundation, a 2008 Women's Leadership and Empowerment Award, and she
has been honored by the Sisters in the Spirit Tour.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Reverend Dr. Sherry Gaither for her dedicated and selfless service to her
community and the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend Dr. Sherry
Gaither.
