A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the 2011 Calhoun High School football team on their Class AA
Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
through perseverance and iron determination, the Calhoun High School football
team finished their perfect 15-0 season winning the AA State Championship;
and
WHEREAS,
they are the number one small school football team in the nation, and this is
their first football state championship since 1952; and
WHEREAS,
the Calhoun High School football team has won 11 straight region championships;
and
WHEREAS,
the senior class has achieved one state championship, three state AA runner-up
seasons, a 55-5 record, and four Region 7 championships, and they have never
lost a region game; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of their coach; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
congratulate the Calhoun High School football team for winning the 2011 Class AA
State Championships and extend their sincerest best wishes for future
success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Calhoun High School
football team.
