RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Charles D. English, 2007 Clayton State University Overall
Distinguished Alumnus; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Charles D. English has long been recognized by the citizens of the State of
Georgia for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep
personal commitment to Clayton State University; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. English is the director of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA)
and the Office of Homeland Security, appointed to this position by Governor
Sonny Perdue; and
WHEREAS,
he graduated from Clayton Junior College with an associate's degree in Criminal
Justice and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Public and Urban Affairs and
a master's degree in Homeland Security and Defense; and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of Clayton State University, his
community, and state, and in recognition of his outstanding service to Clayton
State University, it was most fitting that Charles D. English was named the
Clayton State University Overall Distinguished Alumnus of 2007.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Charles D. English for his many years of efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated public service to Clayton State University and extend to him their
most sincere best wishes for continued success, health, and
happiness.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Charles D. English.
