A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Mr. Jim Emberson; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Jim Emberson has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Emberson has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service with the Catoosa County Board of Commissioners; and

WHEREAS, during his years with the Board of Commissioners, Mr. Emberson served as Commissioner for District Three from 2003 to 2008, and his leadership and guidance were instrumental in increasing reserve funds and the passage of a SPLOST referendum; and

WHEREAS, he served on various ACCG boards and committees representing Catoosa County, and his commitment was recognized with the Advanced Training Certification from the ACCG; and

WHEREAS, while Mr. Emberson was with the Catoosa County Board of Commissioners, the county saw great growth and economic development, including the opening of a transfer station to replace landfills, the consolidation of county services with the construction of a new county administration building, and the renovations of the old jail and the historic courthouse; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Emberson demonstrated significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience and diplomacy, a keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of Catoosa County during his time as a commissioner which earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS, due to his dedicated service, Catoosa County has provided its many esteemed citizens with an exceptional quality of life and a welcoming home, and it is abundantly fitting that he be appropriately recognized for his outstanding public service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend former Commissioner Jim Emberson for his wise and diligent leadership of Catoosa County and extend to him their sincere best wishes for his future health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Jim Emberson.
