RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. Keith Lassiter on the occasion of his retirement; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Keith Lassiter has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment
to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as
evidenced dramatically by his 33 years of superlative service with the
University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences where
he has served with honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Lassiter began his career with the University of Georgia conducting research
part-time at the Griffin campus while still in high school; and
WHEREAS,
in 1980, Mr. Lassiter began his service as a County Agent with the Cooperative
Extension Service, working in Taylor County, Cobb County, Pike County, Baldwin
County, and Lamar County during his years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS,
devoted to agricultural principles, Mr. Lassiter has served as a member of the
National and Georgia Associations of County Agricultural Agents, the National
and Georgia Associations of Extension 4-H Agents, the Cattleman's Association,
the Farm Bureau, the Master Gardener Association, the Soil and Water
Conservation District, and the Lamar County Agricultural Authority;
and
WHEREAS,
his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the
citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his
colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Lassiter is united in love and marriage to his wonderful wife, Lorraine, and
they have been blessed with three remarkable children, Laura, Matthew, and
Jonathan, and two delightful grandchildren, Beau and Amy; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Mr. Keith Lassiter for his over three decades of efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate
him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend to him their most
sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Keith Lassiter.
