RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Ben Brandon; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Ben Brandon has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the
vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to
the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Brandon has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his
time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community as evidenced
dramatically by his superlative service with the Dade County Board of
Commissioners; and
WHEREAS,
during his tenure as a commissioner, Mr. Brandon was instrumental in the passage
of the largest tax break for Dade County property owners in the county's history
and developed the Senior Tax Exemption that removed homeowners over 65 years of
age from the county tax rolls; and
WHEREAS,
his leadership and determination resulted in Dade County serving as the water
provider for the metropolitan Atlanta area and the implementation of
ground-breaking financial policies for the county; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Brandon demonstrated significant organizational and leadership talents,
remarkable patience and diplomacy, a keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to
the needs of the citizens of Dade County during his time as a commissioner which
earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates;
and
WHEREAS,
due to Mr. Brandon's dedicated service, Dade County has provided its many
esteemed citizens with an exceptional quality of life and a welcoming home, and
it is abundantly fitting that he be appropriately recognized for his outstanding
public service.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
former Commissioner Ben Brandon for his wise and diligent leadership of Dade
County and extend to him their sincere best wishes for his future health and
happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Ben Brandon.
