RESOLUTION
Recognizing
January 28, 2009, as Capitol Tech Day; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Capitol Tech Day unites technology literate students, technology leaders,
providers, and supporters to exchange ideas and research, share information, and
plan for future technology literacy initiatives; and
WHEREAS,
profound economic and technological advances in our society are rapidly changing
the structure and nature of the workplace, and by infusing technology into the
teaching and learning process, Georgia's students will be better prepared to
enter today's technologically advanced work force; and
WHEREAS,
the skills and abilities learned through a technological education act as a
foundation for a strong work force that fosters productivity in business and
industry and pushes Georgia to the forefront of the global marketplace;
and
WHEREAS,
a technology integrated education allows for practical and meaningful
applications of basic skills such as reading, writing, science, and mathematics;
and
WHEREAS,
the ever-increasing cooperative efforts of educators, business, government, and
industry stimulate the growth and vitality of this state's economy and the
economy of the entire nation by preparing graduates for 21st century
opportunities.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body declare
January 28, 2009, as Capitol Tech Day.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the public and members of
the press.
