RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Valdosta State University Coed Cheerleading Team on winning
the National Cheerleading Association Open Division II competition; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
after months of practicing tumbles, flips, and cheers, the Valdosta State
University Coed Cheerleading Team earned the title of champions at the National
Cheerleading Association Open Division II competition in Daytona Beach, Florida;
and
WHEREAS,
Valdosta State brought home the university's first national championship title
in cheerleading in the school's history after receiving the squad's highest
score ever in the preliminary round; and
WHEREAS,
under the direction of Head Coach Dante Tennant, the coed cheer squad earned a
reputation as a national powerhouse, demonstrating considerable talent,
discipline, coordination, and teamwork in the competition finals to stand above
their competitors; and
WHEREAS,
the coed squad displayed a level of competitive spirit that has rarely been
equaled and their two minute and 15 second routine to earn them the national
title was full of spirit, stunts, and somersaults; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the Valdosta State University Coed Cheerleading Team on their dominating win of
the National Cheerleading Association Open Division II competition.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the Valdosta State
University Coed Cheerleading Team and their coach.
