A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to adult RESIDENTIAL care homes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The legislature finds that long-term care facilities play a vital role in caring for the State's aging population. The legislature also finds that computer technology has become increasingly prevalent in governmental reporting. However, the legislature notes that due to a lack of experience with required reporting software, the personnel of numerous adult residential care homes and extended care adult residential care homes in the State have been unable to comply with any standards, rules, or regulations that require electronic reporting. This difficulty in using required software has resulted in the permanent closures of many of these adult residential care homes and extended care adult residential care homes. The legislature believes that it is the duty of the State to provide applicable computer and software training to any affected adult residential care homes and extended care adult residential care homes in the State.
Accordingly, the purpose of this Act is to require the department of health to provide training to applicable adult residential care homes and extended care adult residential care homes on the use of required reporting software and websites.
SECTION 2. Chapter 321, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part I be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§321- Software training courses. The department of health shall provide training to the personnel of any affected adult residential care home or extended care adult residential care home on the use of any reporting software or websites that the respective adult residential care home or extended care adult residential care home is required by the department to use."
SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
