A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to the department of health.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 338, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§338-    Certificates; English and Hawaiian languages.  (a)  Certificates of birth, marriage, divorce, or death issued by the department of health that contain Hawaiian names shall contain proper diacritical marks and shall be provided as quickly as certificates that contain English names.

     (b)  The department of health may adopt rules pursuant to chapter 91 to effectuate this section."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2012.

Description:
