A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO highway safety.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 286, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part VI to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§286-     Driver's license; driving under the influence of an intoxicant symbol.  (a)  The examiner of drivers shall place a symbol on any issued or renewed license to indicate that the licensee has been convicted of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant.  Evidence of this symbol shall not be admissible in any judicial proceeding, administrative proceeding, arbitration proceeding, or other adjudicatory proceeding pursuant to section 281-78.

     (b)  The same symbol shall be used statewide."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
