A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Thirty-second REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $29,153,936 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2024-2025 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the thirty-second representative district, as follows:

1.   Aiea elementary school

     Design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for campus-wide covered walkways, parking lot solar canopy, and ground and site improvements.

     Design                          $10,000

     Construction                 $1,750,000

     Equipment                       $10,836

          Total funding                     $1,770,836

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

2.   Alvah Scott elementary school

     Design and construction for a new computer lab, installation of a new kindergarten playground, and campus-wide electrical improvements.

     Design                          $40,100

     Construction                 $1,100,000

          Total funding                     $1,140,100

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

3.   Moanalua elementary school

     Plans, design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for portable 7, portable 8, and cafeteria.

     Plans                          $100,000

     Design                         $100,000

     Construction                 $3,500,000

     Equipment                      $200,000

          Total funding                     $3,900,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

4.   Moanalua elementary school

     Plans, land, design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for a multipurpose innovation center, including ground and site improvements.

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

5.   Moanalua high school

     Design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for synthetic turf field and track improvements; and ground and site improvements.

     Equipment                      $200,000

          Total funding                     $5,800,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

6.   Moanalua middle school

     Plans, land, design, construction, and equipment and appurtenances for a covered play court and ground and site improvements.

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

9.   Red Hill elementary school

          Total funding                     $3,410,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2026, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2024.
