A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to environmental impact statements.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 343, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§343-    Department of agriculture lands; food production; exemption from environmental impact statements.  The proposed drilling, construction, or use of a well and well appurtenances on lands leased from the department of agriculture shall be exempt from the requirements of this chapter; provided that the land is used to support agriculture and food production."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
