A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to controlled substances.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 329, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part III to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§329- Prescription
of opioids; mail-back envelope required. A health care professional or pharmacist
who dispenses any opioid drug shall include with the dispensed drug, instructions
for disposing of any unused portion of the drug, and a pre-addressed, postage
prepaid envelope or package that the person to whom the drug was dispensed may use
to mail any unused portion of the drug to a medication disposal program in the
State."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
