HOUSE RESOLUTION
congratulating the waianae tigers on their third consecutive pop warner state championship.
WHEREAS, Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. (PWLS), founded in 1929, is a non-profit organization that provides youth football, and cheer & dance programs for participants in 42 states and several countries around the world; and
WHEREAS, PWLS consists of approximately 325,000 young people ranging from ages 5 to 16 years old and is the largest youth football, cheer and dance program in the world; and
WHEREAS, the Oahu Pop Warner Ohana joined the national Pop Warner league in 1955 with 17 Oahu teams to form Division I, with Division II made up of neighbor island teams; and
WHEREAS, despite its isolation from the other 49 states, Hawaii has solidified a national reputation for high quality football; and
WHEREAS, the 2016 Waianae Tigers Junior Pee Wee Division Champion team members are: Ali`ipomaika`i Acedillo, Alvin Kalahiki IV, Anthony Pham, Blade Paragas, Brystin Sansano, Brayden-Josiah Oka, Chauncey Kido-White, Chysten Tabangcura, Colton Lowry, Dallas Pelen-Talalotu, Devin Brannon-Morris, Elijah Nua, Elisha Kalani, Excel Jury, Ezekiel Pau-Bradley, Hayden Dowsett, Hunter Ulep, Jadias Malinao-Dias, Jake-Mitchell Eberly, Jestic Rose, Justin Malendres-Kido, Kaien Gaspar, Kilohana Thomas, Konale Horswill, Malachi Tapaoan, Mitchell Brito, Nainoa Nagum, Nathan Nakatani, Peyton Rosario, Shyace Lopes, Shayzen Lopes, Trenton Phillips and Victor Higa; and
WHEREAS, after months of hard work, dedication and perseverance, the Waianae Tigers Junior Pee Wee Division team repeated its undefeated season record once again in 2016, clenching its 8th State Championship title overall, and became the first team to win the State Championship for three consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach James Joseph along with nine assistant coaches: Kepa Kapahua, Li`i Talalotu, Alvin Kalahiki, Shawn Kaleiohi, Derrick Laurita, Chris Sansano, Henry Cummings, along with Business Manager Doreen Nagum and Team mom Ulu Kido-White and a few others have directed this victory over the past years; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-ninth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2017, to congratulate with great pride the Waianae Tigers Junior Pee Wee Division team for winning its third consecutive Pop Warner State Championship; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED to extend aloha to the entire Waianae Tigers Football Ohana and Head Coach James “Jimbo” Joseph, for continued success in all their future endeavors.
