HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

Recognizing and congratulating the U.S. Small Business administration's State of Hawaii 2014 awardees.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, in appreciation of small business owners and their contributions to the growth of the local economy, the House of Representatives joins the business community in recognizing the noteworthy, outstanding achievements of the U.S. Small Business Administration's State of Hawaii awardees; and

 

WHEREAS, the U.S. Small Business Administration annually recognizes the top entrepreneurs and small business advocates in Hawaii with prestigious awards, and 2014 marks another year of deserving recipients; and

 

     WHEREAS, DAVID ERDMAN, President and Chief Executive Officer of PacRim Marketing Group/PRTech, is the recipient of the 2014 Small Business Person of the Year Award for demonstrating outstanding skills, savvy, and business success and for increasing revenues annually and creating jobs in the small business community; and

 

     WHEREAS, JORMA WINKLER of Winkler Woods LLC, is the recipient of the 2014 Small Business Exporter of the Year Award for the successful operation of a small business that exports exotic Hawaiian woods to customers around the world; and

 

     WHEREAS, JINGBO CHANG and WENDY CHANG of Pacific Commercial Services LLC, are the recipients of the 2014 Entrepreneurial Success Award for growing their small business to the point where it is no longer eligible for Small Business Administration assistance; and

 

     WHEREAS, KATHRYN CUSTER of Keiki Sitters dba Aloha Sitters, is the recipient of the 2014 Small Business Administration Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for her strong entrepreneurial and business skills demonstrated by the successful operation and ownership of her small business since 2008, which has occurred prior to her reaching the age of 30; and

 

     WHEREAS, MICHAEL NOBRIGA, Chief Executive Officer of Maui Soda and Ice Works, Ltd., is the recipient of the 2014 Small Business Administration Family-Owned Business of the Year Award for the successful operation of his business, which was established in 1888 and has passed in ownership from one generation to another; and

 

     WHEREAS, CYNTHIA YAMASAKI of the Patsy T. Mink Center for Business and Leadership at YWCA Laniakea, is the recipient of the 2014 Women in Business Champion of the Year Award for advocating for women entrepreneurs and fulfilling a commitment to the advancement of women business ownership; and

 

     WHEREAS, RAYMOND JARDINE, JR., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Native Hawaiian Veterans, LLC, is the recipient of the 2014 Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year Award for his commitment to advancing small business opportunities for veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces; and

 

     WHEREAS, JONI REDICK-YUNDT, a Sales Manager and Financial Representative of Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, is the recipient of the 2014 Minority Small Business Champion of the Year Award for her commitment to support and assist minority entrepreneurs and small business owners; and

 

     WHEREAS, NAOMI MASUNO of Bank of Hawaii, is the recipient of the 2014 Financial Services Champion of the Year Award for assisting small businesses through advocacy efforts to increase the usefulness and availability of accounting or financial services to small businesses; and

 

     WHEREAS, TERRINA WONG, Deputy Director of the Pacific Gateway Center, is the recipient of the 2014 Home-Based Business Champion of the Year Award for her experience and volunteer efforts to improve the business climate for other home-based businesses; now, therefore,

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2014, that this body hereby recognizes and congratulates the U.S. Small Business Administration's State of Hawaii 2014 awardees and sincerely extends to them its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
