HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

congratulating the Kaiser High School Cougars football team and head coach rich miano for winning the 2013 division ii state football championship.

 

 

 

     WHEREAS, high school football is a very competitive and very serious sport in Hawaii; and

 

WHEREAS, successful student athletes must be committed to rigorous training, teamwork, and good sportsmanship in addition to maintaining high academic achievement; and

 

WHEREAS, experienced and dedicated leadership can be critical to producing a winning team; and

 

WHEREAS, the Henry J. Kaiser High School Cougars football team is composed of talented and committed players; and

    

WHEREAS, the Cougars are led by Rich Miano, who played professional football for the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, and Atlanta Falcons; and

 

WHEREAS, Coach Miano joined the Cougars in 2011, after serving as associate head football coach for his alma mater, the University of Hawaii; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cougars practiced long and hard to prepare themselves for the 2013 season; and

 

WHEREAS, their hard work and dedication paid off on the field as the Cougars won a steady string of victories; and

 

WHEREAS, on Saturday, November 23, 2013, the Cougars scored a decisive 17-to-7 victory over the Kauai High School Red Raiders to win the Division II state football championship at Aloha Stadium, ending the season with an 11-1 record; and

 

WHEREAS, the community is proud of the Cougars and Coach Miano's push for excellence in sports and life; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2014, that this body congratulates the Henry J. Kaiser High School Cougars football team and head coach Rich Miano for their outstanding achievements as Division II State Champions and extends to them its sincerest Aloha and best wishes for continued success.
