HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

requesting the department of transportation to install traffic dividers on farrington highway to improve pedestrian safety.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, there have been numerous traffic accidents on Farrington Highway between Maili and Makaha; and

 

     WHEREAS, pedestrians have been injured or killed in traffic accidents on this stretch of Farrington Highway; and

 

     WHEREAS, the traffic accidents have occurred when vehicles swerved over the center line or pedestrians attempted to cross Farrington Highway in unsafe ways; and

 

     WHEREAS, the installation of traffic barriers can help to improve traffic safety and reduce pedestrian deaths; and

 

     WHEREAS, Farrington Highway is owned and maintained by the State of Hawaii; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2014, that the Department of Transportation is requested to install concrete barriers or other traffic dividers on Farrington Highway from Maili to Makaha; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Governor and Director of Transportation.
