HOUSE RESOLUTION

requesting a financial report from the aha moku advisory committee.

WHEREAS, Act 288, Session Laws of Hawaii 2012, established the Aha Moku Advisory Committee as part of the Department of Land and Natural Resources for administrative purposes; and

WHEREAS, the Aha Moku Advisory Committee was established to serve in an advisory capacity to the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources on issues related to land and natural resources management through the aha moku system; and

WHEREAS, the aha moku system is a system of best practices that is based upon the indigenous resource management practices of moku boundaries, which acknowledges the natural contours of land, the specific resources located within those areas, and the methodology necessary to sustain resources and the community; and

WHEREAS, Act 288 provided the Department of Land and Natural Resources with a general fund appropriation of $76,500 for fiscal year 2012-2013, for the administrative costs related to carrying out the duties of the Aha Moku Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs has also contributed to the financing of the Aha Moku Advisory Committee by providing necessary funds; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2015, that the Chairperson of the Aha Moku Advisory Committee is requested to submit to the Legislature, not later than July 31, 2015, a financial report, covering fiscal years 2012-2013, 2013-2014, and 2014-2015, that itemizes the following matters in an appropriate format:

(1) Sources of funding, including general funds and interdepartmental transfers;

(2) Expenditures made, including both amounts and purposes;

(3) Projected expenditures; and

(4) Operational costs; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Aha Moku Advisory Committee, Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources, and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
