A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO CABLE TELEVISION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 440G, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§440G-     Franchise fee; allocation.  Notwithstanding any other statute, law, or rule to the contrary, the department shall allocate any revenues derived from collected franchise fees as follows:

     (1)  An amount equal to 57.78 per cent to the office of information technology within the department of education;

     (2)  An amount equal to 26.67 per cent to the Hawaii public television foundation;

     (3)  An amount equal to 11.11 per cent to the department; and

     (4)  An amount equal to 4.44 per cent to public, educational, or governmental access organizations."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
