A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to dementia.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
The purpose of this Act is to establish a training program at the university of Hawaii to educate healthcare providers on caring for patients having Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
SECTION 2. Chapter 304A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part IV, subpart M, to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§304A- Patients having Alzheimer's disease; care
training program. The board shall establish a specialized training program to educate healthcare
providers on caring for patients having Alzheimer's disease and other forms of
dementia."
SECTION 3. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2025-2026 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2026-2027 for the university of Hawaii board of regents to establish a specialized training program to educate healthcare providers on methods to best care for patients having Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the university of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2025.
