A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO the USE OF INTOXICANTS WHILE OPERATING A VEHICLE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 291E, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:
"§291E‑ Suspected violations; officer's discretion to call taxi. If a person is stopped by a law enforcement officer for a suspected violation of section 291E-61 or 291E-61.5 but is not arrested at the scene of the stop pursuant to section 291E-33, the law enforcement officer may offer to call a taxi to take the person home."
SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
