A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to collective bargaining.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 377-4.7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (a) to read as follows:

     "(a)  [No later than ten] Within ninety to one hundred eighty days after [receiving a written request for collective bargaining from] an individual or labor organization [that] has been newly organized or certified as a representative, the parties shall meet and commence to bargain collectively and shall make every reasonable effort to conclude and sign a collective bargaining agreement."

     SECTION 2.  This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun before its effective date.

     SECTION 3.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
