SENATE RESOLUTION
recognizING after-school programs and prevention programs in schools as effective strategies for combating bullying and domestic violence and promoting sexual health awareness, emotional literacy, civic responsibility, and healthy relationships.
WHEREAS, issues such as bullying, domestic violence, and a lack of sexual health awareness, emotional literacy, civic responsibility, and healthy relationships among family members, friends, and members of the community have become more pressing in recent years; and
WHEREAS, after-school programs and prevention programs in Hawaii's schools provide excellent opportunities to raise awareness among students of these issues and educate students on effective prevention strategies; and
WHEREAS, the need for more after-school programs and more effective prevention strategies in schools to address these issues has risen to a level of importance that warrants recognition and broad support by Hawaii's residents and government agencies; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-fifth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2010, that Hawaii residents and government agencies are requested to recognize after-school programs and prevention programs in schools as effective strategies for combating issues such as bullying and domestic violence and promoting sexual health awareness, emotional literacy, civic responsibility, and healthy relationships; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Governor, the Superintendent of Education, the Director of Health, the Director of Human
Services, the Chairperson of the Board of Education, and the President of the Hawaii State PTSA.
