Section
1.
Section
260C.14,
Code
2019,
is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
25.
Adopt
a
policy,
to
take
effect

not
later
than
January
1,
2020,
relating
to
an
additional
4
classification
of
students,
for
purposes
of
determining
tuition
5
and
fees,
to
grant
resident
status
to
individuals
who
meet
all
6
of
the
following
conditions:
7
a.
Attended
an
accredited
school
in
this
state
for
at
least
8
five
years
as
of
the
date
the
individual
graduated
from
an
9
accredited
high
school
or
received
a
high
school
equivalency
10
diploma
in
this
state.
11
b.
Is
accepted
for
enrollment
by
the
community
college.
12
c.
Was
not
required
to
pay
tuition
to
attend
a
public
high
13
school
in
this
state.
14
d.
Signs
an
affidavit,
if
the
individual
does
not
have
a
15
social
security
number,
stating
that
the
individual
will
pursue
16
citizenship
in
the
United
States
at
the
earliest
possible
time
17
the
individual
is
able
to
do
so.

Code
2019,
is
amended
by
adding
the

following
new
subsection:

an

high
school

a

the

control
of
the
board.

Was
not

to
pay
tuition
to
attend
a
public
high

in
this
state.

this

This
bill
directs
the
board
of
directors
of
a
community
6
college
and
the
state
board
of
regents
to
adopt
policies
7
that
take
effect
not
later
than
January
1,
2020,
relating
to
8
an
additional
classification
of
students,
for
purposes
of
9
determining
tuition
and
fees,
to
grant
resident
status
to
10
certain
individuals.
11
To
meet
the
requirements
of
the
policy,
an
individual
must
12
have
attended
an
accredited
school
in
this
state
for
at
least
13
five
years
prior
to
graduating
from
high
school,
or
received
a
14
high
school
equivalency
diploma
in
this
state;
be
accepted
for
15
enrollment
by
a
public
postsecondary
institution
in
this
state;
16
must
not
have
been
required
to
pay
tuition
to
attend
a
public
17
high
school
in
this
state;
and
must
sign
an
affidavit,
if
the
18
individual
does
not
have
a
social
security
number,
stating
that
19
the
individual
will
pursue
U.S.
citizenship
at
the
earliest
20
possible
time
the
individual
is
able
to
do
so.
