  1  1    Section 1.  Section 237A.13, subsection 7, paragraph c, Code
  1  2 2015, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    c.  Families with an income of more than one hundred percent
  1  4 but not more than one hundred forty=five eighty=five percent
  1  5 of the federal poverty level whose members, for at least
  1  6 twenty=eight hours per week in the aggregate, are employed
  1  7 or are participating at a satisfactory level in an approved
  1  8 training program or educational program.
  1  9                           EXPLANATION
  1 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 11 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 12    This bill relates to state child care assistance program
  1 13 eligibility and waiting list guidelines.
  1 14    The state child care assistance program is administered by
  1 15 the department of human services. Based upon the availability
  1 16 of the funding appropriated for state child care assistance
  1 17 for a fiscal year, the department establishes waiting lists
  1 18 for state child care assistance in descending order of
  1 19 prioritization.
  1 20    Under current law, one of the waiting list requirements
  1 21 relates to families with an income of more than 100 percent but
  1 22 not more than 145 percent of the federal poverty level whose
  1 23 members, for at least 28 hours per week in the aggregate, are
  1 24 employed or are participating at a satisfactory level in an
  1 25 approved training program or educational program.  The bill
  1 26 increases this waiting list income eligibility limit from 145
  1 27 percent to 185 percent.
