135.1,
subsection
2,
Code
2020,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

“Health
officer”
shall
mean
means
the
physician

registered
nurse
practitioner,
or

registered
nurse
who
is
the
health
officer

of
the
local
board
of
health.

2.
Section
137.105,
subsection
1,
paragraph
d,
Code

2020,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

d.
Local
boards
of
health
shall
consist
of
at
least
five
9
members.
At
least
one
member
shall
be
licensed
as
a
physician
10
under
chapter
148
,
a
physician
assistant
under
chapter
148C,
an
11
advanced
registered
nurse
practitioner
under
chapter
152,
or
an
12
advanced
practice
registered
nurse
under
chapter
152E
.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
instead
of
requiring
one
of
the
17
five
members
of
a
local
board
of
health
to
be
a
physician,
one
18
of
the
five
members
is
instead
required
to
be
a
physician,
a
19
physician
assistant,
an
advanced
registered
nurse
practitioner,
20
or
an
advanced
practice
registered
nurse.
The
bill
also
makes
21
a
conforming
change
to
define
the
“health
officer”
of
the
local
22
board
of
health
as
a
physician,
a
physician
assistant,
an
23
advanced
registered
nurse
practitioner,
or
an
advanced
practice
24
registered
nurse.
