261E.10A
Teacher
apprenticeship
1
program.
2
A
teacher
apprenticeship
program
may
qualify
as
a
concurrent
3
enrollment
course
if
the
program
meets
the
requirements
of
4
section
261E.8.
For
purposes
of
this
section,
a
“teacher
5
apprenticeship
program”
means
a
nonsectarian
course
at
or
6
through
a
community
college
established
under
chapter
260C
that
7
meets
all
of
the
following
requirements:

1.
Is
at
least
two
semesters
in
duration.
9
2.
Requires
a
student
to
observe
and
participate
in
teaching
10
activities
under
the
direct
supervision
of
a
mentor
teacher.

3.
Provides
the
student
with
college
credit
that
may
be
12
applied
to
the
credits
necessary
to
obtain
a
para-educator
13
certificate
pursuant
to
section
272.12.

constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance

the
members
of
the
general

This
bill
establishes
a
teacher
apprenticeship
program

within
the
district-to-community
college
sharing
or
concurrent

enrollment
program.

The
bill
provides
that
a
teacher
apprenticeship
program
21
may
qualify
as
a
concurrent
enrollment
course
under
the
22
district-to-community
college
sharing
or
concurrent
enrollment
23
program
if
the
program
meets
the
requirements
related
to
the
24
concurrent
enrollment
program
established
in
Code
section
25
261E.8.
The
bill
defines
“teacher
apprenticeship
program”
as
26
a
nonsectarian
course
at
or
through
a
community
college
that
27
is
at
least
two
semesters
in
duration,
requires
a
student
to
28
observe
and
participate
in
teaching
activities
under
the
direct
29
supervision
of
a
mentor
teacher,
and
provides
the
student
with
30
credit
toward
a
para-educator
certificate.
