Section
237A.5,
subsection
1,
Code
2025,
is
1
amended
to
read
as
follows:

1.
a.
All
personnel
in
licensed
or
registered
child
care
3
facilities
shall
have
good
health
as
evidenced
by
a
report
4
following
a
preemployment
physical
examination
taken
.
5
b.
An
individual
shall
have
received
an
initial
physical
6
examination
within
the
six
months
prior
to
beginning
7
immediately
preceding
the
date
the
individual
begins
8
employment
,
or
within
the
three
months
immediately
following
9
the
date
the
individual
begins
employment
.
The
10
c.
A
physical
examination
shall
include
communicable
disease
11
tests
performed
by
a
licensed
physician
as
defined
in
section
12
135C.1
,
or
by
a
licensed
physician
assistant
as
defined
in
13
section
148C.1
and
.
14
d.
Licensed
or
registered
facility
personnel
shall
be
15
repeated
receive
a
physical
examination
under
this
subsection
16
at
least
once
every
three
years
after
the
date
of
the
17
individual’s
initial
employment
physical
examination
under
18
paragraph
“b”
.

e.
Controlled
medical
conditions
which
would
not
affect
the
20
performance
of
the
employee
in
the
capacity
employed
shall
not
21
prohibit
employment.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
physical
examinations
of
personnel
26
working
in
a
licensed
or
registered
child
care
facility.
Under
27
current
law,
personnel
working
in
a
licensed
or
registered
28
child
care
facility
(facility)
must
take
an
examination
within
29
six
months
prior
to
beginning
employment.
Such
examinations,
30
including
communicable
disease
tests,
must
be
performed
by
a
31
licensed
physician
or
physician’s
assistant,
and
be
repeated
32
every
three
years
after
initial
employment.
The
bill
allows
33
individuals
to
receive
an
initial
physical
examination
within
34
the
six
months
immediately
preceding
the
date
the
individual
