1.
NEW
SECTION
.

Volunteer
emergency
1
services
providers
——
tires.
2
1.
For
purposes
of
this
section,
“volunteer
emergency
3
services
provider”
means
any
of
the
following:
4
a.
A
volunteer
fire
fighter
as
defined
in
section
85.61.
5
b.
A
person
performing
the
functions
of
an
emergency
medical
6
care
provider
as
defined
in
section
147A.1
who
is
not
paid
7
full-time
by
the
entity
for
which
such
services
are
being
8
performed.

c.
A
reserve
peace
officer
as
defined
in
section
80D.1A.

2.
A
volunteer
emergency
services
provider
shall
be
11
authorized
to
purchase
from
the
department
of
administrative
12
services
during
any
calendar
year
no
more
than
one
set
of
tires
13
under
a
master
contract
for
tires
established
by
the
department
14
of
administrative
services
as
provided
in
section
8A.311A.

The
department
of
administrative
services
shall
adopt
16
rules
governing
the
requirements
of
this
section.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
19
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
a
volunteer
emergency
services
21
provider
shall
be
authorized
to
purchase
no
more
than
one
22
set
of
tires
under
a
master
contract
for
tires
established
23
by
the
department
of
administrative
services
(DAS).
The
24
bill
defines
a
volunteer
emergency
services
provider
as
a
25
volunteer
fire
fighter,
a
person
performing
the
functions
of
26
an
emergency
medical
care
provider
who
is
not
paid
full-time,
27
or
a
reserve
peace
officer.
DAS
shall
adopt
rules
governing
28
the
requirements
of
the
bill.
