park

space
designated

batteries

other
energy
storage
devices
of

electric
motor
vehicles.
For
purposes
of
this
section,

“electric
motor
vehicle”
means
a
motor
vehicle
equipped
with
14
electrical
drivetrain
components
that
has
the
ability
to
be
15
propelled,
fully
or
partially,
by
one
or
more
electrical
motors
16
using
electrical
energy
stored
in
a
battery
or
other
energy
17
storage
device
that
can
be
recharged
by
plugging
into
an
18
electrical
outlet
or
electric
motor
vehicle
charging
station.

fine
is
fifty
dollars.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
prohibits
a
person
from
parking
a
motor
vehicle
10
that
is
not
an
electric
motor
vehicle,
as
defined
in
the
bill,
11
in
a
parking
space
designated
for
charging
the
batteries
or
12
other
energy
storage
devices
of
electric
motor
vehicles.
A
13
violation
of
this
provision
is
punishable
by
a
scheduled
fine
14
of
$50.
15
The
bill
makes
a
corresponding
change
to
Code
section
16
321.210,
excluding
the
parking
violation
from
being
considered
17
by
the
department
of
transportation
for
purposes
of
driver’s
18
license
suspension.
By
operation
of
law,
the
parking
violation
19
is
also
not
considered
for
suspension
of
a
restricted
driver’s
20
license
under
Code
section
321.178(2)(b),
cancellation
of
21
a
motorized
bicycle
driver’s
license
under
Code
section
22
321.189(7)(c),
revocation
of
a
special
minor’s
driver’s
license
23
under
Code
section
321.194(4),
cancellation
of
a
temporary
24
restricted
license
under
Code
section
321.215(3),
or
habitual
25
offender
status
under
Code
section
321.555(2).

The
bill
also
makes
corresponding
changes
to
Code
section

602.8103,
relating
to
the
clerk
of
court’s
destruction
of

records
for
parking
violations,
and
Code
section
602.8106,

providing
for
an
$8
fee
charged
by
the
clerk
of
court
to
file

and
docket
complaints
for
parking
violations.
