H.F. 517 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 335.36 Rock blasting —— setbacks. 1 A county shall require operations that involve rock blasting 2 to conduct such rock blasting no less than five hundred feet 3 from the property line. However, a county shall not enact a 4 setback requirement greater than five hundred feet for rock 5 blasting activities. 6 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION . 414.34 Rock blasting —— setbacks. 7 A city shall require operations that involve rock blasting 8 to conduct such rock blasting no less than five hundred feet 9 from the property line. However, a city shall not enact a 10 setback requirement greater than five hundred feet for rock 11 blasting activities. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill requires counties and cities to require operations 16 that involve rock blasting to conduct such rock blasting no 17 less than 500 feet from the property line.
