WHEREAS,
Iowans
are
keenly
aware
of
the
challenges

facing
our
state
and
country
in
regards
to
economic

mobility
and
the
ability
of
Americans
to
reach
the
5
American
dream;
and
6
WHEREAS,
Iowa’s
history
is
steeped
in
successful
7
stories
of
both
individual
and
collective
economic
8
achievements;
and
9
WHEREAS,
our
State’s
motto
“Our
Liberties
We
Prize
10
and
Our
Rights
We
Will
Maintain”
reflects
our
belief
11
that
the
American
values
of
loyalty,
justice,
truth,
12
courage,
and
success
for
all
are
undeniable
virtues
of
13
our
state
heritage;
and
14
WHEREAS,
generations
of
Iowans
have
invested
15
their
blood,
sweat,
and
tears
to
provide
for
their
16
friends,
families,
and
neighbors,
so
much
so
that
their
17
collective
efforts
are
often
referred
to
as
the
“Iowa
18
Work
Ethic”;
and
19
WHEREAS,
Opportunity
Nation,
a
national
bipartisan
20
initiative,
is
working
to
build
a
national
dialogue
on
21
opportunity
as
a
core
American
value
that
desperately
22
needs
to
be
injected
into
the
public
conversation;
and

WHEREAS,
Opportunity
Nation
believes
that
through

commitment,
intelligence,
and
partnership,
we
can

reenergize
this
public
value
in
American
discourse
as

a
vital
national
goal;
and

WHEREAS,
the
General
Assembly
recognizes
that
