House Resolution 111 - Introduced PAG LIN HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. BY H. MILLER 1 1 A Resolution recognizing the Hoover Uncommon Public 1 2 Service Award winner for 2016, Speaker of the House 1 3 of Representatives Linda Upmeyer. 1 4 WHEREAS, Herbert Hoover was both a visionary and 1 5 dedicated public servant and through his tireless 1 6 efforts millions of lives were saved in the years after 1 7 World War I; and 1 8 WHEREAS, to honor that spirit of public service the 1 9 Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association has 1 10 created the Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award; and 1 11 WHEREAS, the association annually presents 1 12 the Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award to Iowa 1 13 legislators who exemplify President Hoover's 1 14 humanitarian efforts and have gone above and beyond 1 15 the call of duty to demonstrate uncommon service and 1 16 commitment to the people of Iowa; and 1 17 WHEREAS, in 2016, the association awarded the tenth 1 18 annual Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award to Speaker 1 19 of the House of Representatives Linda Upmeyer of Clear 1 20 Lake, Iowa; and 1 21 WHEREAS, Speaker Upmeyer is committed to the 1 22 constituents in her district and works for the best 1 23 interests of those she represents; NOW THEREFORE, 1 24 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 1 25 That the House of Representatives thanks the Herbert 1 26 Hoover Presidential Library Association for the 1 27 creation of the Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award 1 28 and congratulates Speaker Upmeyer on receiving the 2016 2 1 award.
