House Resolution 117 - Introduced PAG LIN HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. BY ROGERS, BERRY, and SALMON 1 1 A Resolution urging the United States Congress to 1 2 revise legislation impacting and limiting the use of 1 3 incandescent light bulbs. 1 4 WHEREAS, incandescent light bulbs have proven to be 1 5 a safe, dependable, and efficient source of lighting 1 6 for decades; and 1 7 WHEREAS, consumer choice and consumer freedom is an 1 8 important component of our free market system; and 1 9 WHEREAS, Congress enacted the Energy Independence 1 10 and Security Act in 2007; and 1 11 WHEREAS, the Act created regulations that, for 1 12 all practical purposes, banned the use of standard 1 13 incandescent light bulbs by establishing increased 1 14 minimum energy efficiency standards for general 1 15 lamps; and 1 16 WHEREAS, the overregulation of industry can result 1 17 in limitations on consumer choice and freedom; NOW 1 18 THEREFORE, 1 19 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 1 20 the House of Representatives urges Congress to revise 1 21 provisions in the Energy Independence and Security 1 22 Act of 2007 which impacted and limited the use of 1 23 incandescent light bulbs.
