MEYER , GRABER , INGELS , BODEN , LOHSE , HORA , BEST , JACOBY , GERHOLD , KNIFF MCCULLA , ABDUL-SAMAD , MADISON , NIELSEN , SIEGRIST , VONDRAN , SHIPLEY , SHERMAN , RINKER , WULF , JUDGE , WESSEL-KROESCHELL , OLSON , MOORE , BOSSMAN , MOHR , BLOOMINGDALE , LUNDGREN , BERGAN , KURTH , SCHOLTEN , CROKEN , and BROWN-POWERS A Resolution recognizing and congratulating University 1 of Northern Iowa (UNI) wrestler Parker Keckeisen for 2 his outstanding wrestling accomplishments. 3 WHEREAS, on March 23, 2024, UNI wrestler Parker 4 Keckeisen won the National Collegiate Athletic 5 Association (NCAA) individual wrestling championship at 6 184 pounds, winning the final match by a major decision 7 and closing out the season with 14 straight bonus-point 8 victories; and 9 WHEREAS, he became the first ever UNI Panther 10 wrestler to be named a four-time Division I 11 All-American, after earning the distinction in 12 2024; and 13 WHEREAS, wrestling his way through the 184-pound 14 weight class bracket at the Big 12 Conference 15 championship, Keckeisen was named the tournament’s 16 Outstanding Wrestler following his fourth Big 12 17 -1- LSB 6394HH (3) 90 th/jm 1/ 3
H.R. 117 Conference title; and 1 WHEREAS, he became a finalist for the Dan Hodge 2 Trophy, which is awarded to the nation’s top collegiate 3 wrestler, after earning bonus-point wins in all but 4 three matches; and 5 WHEREAS, in addition to his excellent work and 6 outstanding accomplishments on the mat, Keckeisen also 7 earned recognition as a National Wrestling Coaches 8 Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American as a result 9 of his dedication to his studies in construction 10 management at UNI; and 11 WHEREAS, Keckeisen surpassed 100 victories in his 12 collegiate career which included milestone victories 13 over highly ranked wrestlers at both the Big 12 14 Wrestling Championship Tournament and the NWCA All-Star 15 Classic, winning the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, 16 taking first place at the Grand View Open, and winning 17 all three of his matches at the Collegiate Duals; and 18 WHEREAS, he enrolled at UNI after winning two 19 Wisconsin high school state championships along with 20 earning Academic All-State honors; NOW THEREFORE, 21 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 22 That the House of Representatives congratulates 23 and honors Parker Keckeisen’s outstanding wrestling 24 accomplishments, culminating in the NCAA wrestling 25 championship title at 184 pounds; and 26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon passage, the Chief 27 Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit 28 a copy of this resolution to Parker Keckeisen; UNI 29 wrestling head coach, Doug Schwab; interim director of 30 -2- LSB 6394HH (3) 90 th/jm 2/ 3
